I have been in Pilates since before it was everywhere. I have taught, trained teachers, filmed thousands of classes, and spent my career watching what actually determines whether a teacher builds a full practice.
It is almost never the technique. It is almost always how they communicate.
The StoryWhy I Built This
I ran a Pilates Studio and licensed STOTT PILATES® Training Center for 18 years. I was a STOTT PILATES® Master Trainer for nearly 20. I trained hundreds of teachers and watched them go out into the world and teach.
The ones who built thriving practices were not always the ones who came out of training with the sharpest technique. Some of the most technically precise teachers I trained struggled to hold clients. And some of the teachers who were still learning the work packed their classes.
When I started Pilates & Fitness TV, I spent years watching teachers on camera. The camera strips away everything. It shows you exactly what you have. And what I kept seeing was that the teachers who connected with people had something specific in how they communicated. Not just what they said, but how they said it. How they moved. How they used silence. How they looked at the camera and made you feel like they were talking directly to you.
That is when I understood what the IT Factor actually is. And I spent the next several years building a framework to teach it.
